Locally, the CanTEST Health and Drug Checking Service is up and running.. The service is open to anyone intending to use drugs who would like to know more about what's in them. Harm Reduction Australia have thanked the individuals and organisational members for their efforts to make this service a reality.
Nationally, comes a disturbing report of a lack of GP's prepared to prescribe methadone.
There is some positive news internationally with newly elected Columbian president Gustavo Petro declaring at his inauguration that the "war on drugs" is a failure. He said it is time for a new global convention that "accepts the war on drugs has failed. It has left a million dead Latin Americans during 40 years".
A story from the US says that "Once feared, illicit fentanyl is now the drug of choice of many opioid users". Alex Kral a Berkeley based epidemiologist stated that "my prediction would be that smoking fentanyl will be the norm within a year".
