From 10:30am until noon on Tuesday February 9th there will be a new edition of the radio show “News from the Drug War Front” brought to you by CAHMA, Canberra’s peer-based drug user organisation.
-Opioid Overdose Recognition and Response with Naloxone Workshops are scheduled for Tuesday February 16th and Tuesday February 23rd commencing at 2pm.
-On Sunday on 2CC radio in Canberra there was a special edition of the “Sunday Roast” to discuss legislation proposed by Labor MLA Michael Pettersson to make possession of small quantities of drugs in the ACT a civil rather than criminal offence. Guests included CAHMA ED Chris Gough
- In national news, we will discuss the piece by James Hancock “The 'huge backlog' of people waiting for a public bed for drug and alcohol treatment in Victoria”
- In New South Wales Corrective Services injected about 900 prison inmates a month last year with injectable buprenorphine. We will discuss this contentious issue.
- On the international scene we will discuss “Ljubljana Authorities Destroy Community Hub Housing Harm Reduction Initiative” by Juan Fernandez Ochoa. A very disturbing development in Slovenia.
- The radio show is co-presented with Marion Watson. Music is played during the show, which is broadcast on 2XX, Canberra’s Community Radio, 98.3 FM.
